This year we have done a lot of units and our most recent one has been our Exhibition. Compared to some of the other units I have done, I don't think this has been my most successful one. In this process we chose different subjects to focus on which is all in my Exhibition presentation reflection blog post. One of the things that I think I should have improved on is my commitment to the group and being more productive. The actual exhibition itself was actually a real success. We did really well getting lots of comments, people were interested and people signing up to help us with our action.

One of my other units that I think I did very well in was my How We express ourselves unit. Our central idea was beliefs and values are conveyed in different ways. In this unit we had a stixy to put all our research on (a stixy is a place where you can put information pictures and videos). We were assessed in this unit by doing a five hundred word essay on the religion and ceremony we researched. I did Jewish weddings which I think I did very well at. I got about a twenty out of twenty four.

This year's camp was great. In camp a lot of the learner profiles are shown every day of camp. This year's camp was the best with me being a risk-taker, knowledgeable, communicator, open minded and caring. We did a lot of different fun activities. At the end of camp I was very knowledgeable about compasses and how you use them. I was a risk taker by trying new things that looked scary. We were all open minded and caring by cheering everyone on and helping them to try scary and new things. So we all actually learnt a lot more than you think from camp. I made an earlier blog post right after camp. Click here if you want to read it. There's also all the pictures from camp day onecamp day three and camp day four.

Math this year has been very successful for me with me learning a lot of new things about how to convert fractions into numbers, graphs, times tables and so on. Our most recent subject we have just learnt about is area, volume and perimeter. We used many ways of practicing this subject we also used a site called Mathletics. We also did many different work sheets to find perimeter volume and area. In math this year I think I have been a communicator and an inquirer. I have been communicating with a lot of people on each subject we are doing. I also have stayed in the conversations on a topic and been interactive by asking many questions. My test for our last unit I did pretty well out of the class I got twenty and the highest was about thirty three. My goals for the summer are to practice more on times tables because I regularly don't ever practice over the summer. My other goal is to  This years math has been pretty good all round with me learning all new things.

This year in music I think I have been very successful in many ways in music. Such as reading, playing, conducting. Some other subjects I didn't do so well in was composition. We have just had our school music concert with the grade five band playing three songs "Latin Fire," "Attack of the slide trombones" and Guantanamera. In the primary concert we had grades two to five preforming. Me and Oscar did a solo piece together on the "Pink Panther." This years concert was different by it being in a professional theatre with a proper everything. No doubt this years music concert was the best.

Throughout the whole grade three recorder to grade four and grade five band I have improved musically. I have also became a very good a all round trumpet player this year.

I have improved my writing by a tremendous amount this year in punctuation sentence building and every thing. In the beginning of the year I didn't really look to my blog as a why of learning to write better. When I did start writing in my blog I improved so much as a communicator a reflector, a learner and as a writer. If you compared me as a writer in the beginning of the year and as a writer now they're would be a amazing difference. If we were to look at one of my first blog posts which are bag of beliefs and one of my other blog posts which are one of the best is my Hong Kong Sevens blog post. I have really enjoyed my blog this year because I think It's quite enjoyable to write about what I do and why I want to write and that't why I want to be good at it. One of the reasons I enjoy how to be able to write properly is because then I can use that to make a great blog post. Those are some more reasons why I think I should have my own blog when I leave HKA (Hong Kong Academy)

This year I have been in the standard Mandarin class with my teacher being Ding Lao shi. Our latest unit has been transportation. We have been doing lots of different ways of practicing. We have been playing different mandarin games on a site called qiuzlet. On qiuzlet we are playing two games called space race and scatter. We also did pages in our book to help us learn the subject. We have just done a recent test and I think I could of done better than I did by practicing more and getting prepared. At the beginning of the year we made goals for mandarin and at the end of the year we were going to see if we had accomplished them. Over this year my goals have been trying to do more homework, focus more in class and be more reflective about my work. One of my goals for this mandarin class is my behaviour. Sometimes in mandarin I haven't been respectful to my teacher and have not paid attention. I think I did not do the best I could of in mandarin and next time in my new school I'll be more respectful.
Final Words
Grade five this year has been one of those special years. I liked it because I had fun with all the people in my class and got along quite well with the teachr I learnt new exiting things met new people and especially had fun learning with the people around me.
Today on Wednesday twenty sixth of may we had our school music concert and art exhibition. This years music concert was very different from all the other school music concert it was in a real theatre called civic square theatre. Halfway through today it was the K3-grade one concert. At school. The younger grades sang lots of very nice songs. My two brothers were in that concert Angus was in the youngest grade singing "A Sailor Went to sea," "I can play on the big bass drum" and Thank you thank you mummy. My other brother called Scott in grade one sang "Its a small world" and "Oh what a happy day." With the other younger grades singing such other great songs.

School ended and I went to go and play golf with Leo and Oscar which was really fun. I went home with mum had a shower and got ready for the music concert. I arrived and I was late, me and Oscar had a solo piece to do together and we were the second act of the night, playing the "Pink Panther." When we were about to go on to play me and Oscar were both really nervous, but I guess that nervous feeling made us play our best and we did fantastic. Me and Oscar finished and went backstage. All our classmates were complementing us. We had to wait a long time until our class could go on and play our instruments. I don't think I have said what instrument I play I play the trumpet. The grade five band played three songs our first song was "Latin Fire" our second was "Attack of the slide trombones" and "Guantanamera." We all went to the art exhibition after the concert and I toke a photo with my piece of work. We also looked at my Scott's piece of art work. We couldn't find Angus' work for some reason. We left civic square theatre and went to the Football club to have dinner. I am now home about to go to bed for tomorrow and thinking about how great everyone did in the concert.
In my class in school we have been working on a exhibition for the past eight weeks. Last week on Thursday and Friday we presented all our work to classes around the world and our school. We were able to show schools around the world our work by having jobs such as a V-tour. If your job was to be a V-tour their would be two of you, one carrying around a computer with a camera and microphone and a presenter in front of the computer taking you around the exhibition.
My group also presented all our work. I think we actually did pretty well. We presented very well by clearly speaking to people about our action and research. We did very well because we didn't have any games like that but we still attracted a lot of little kids. We not only did well presenting we also got a lot of people to sign up to put reminders in their classroom. I really enjoyed being asked questions by people visiting our exhibit.
I think I did well when someone asked me about our topic I always knew the answer. I think I was also very interactive with everyone that came to our exhibit I also asked them to put comments, if they wanted to. When In did a job such as a blogger, guide, knowledge bank, journalists and V-tour. I think when I did all those jobs I didn't get distracted and doing the right thing. The only time I think I didn't do so well on doing a job is when I was a guide I didn't really do anything and didn't help anybody.
In the process of getting all the information, planning and working I haven't done such a great job at. I hope that how I did in the exhibition payed off for me not doing such a good job preparing. I think me and my group did very well in the exhibition by the help of our mentor the school counselor Thomas Battiato.
Click here to go to our exhibition website with a blog and all about our exhibition.
I think for new bloggers that have not been blogging for a long time should just write what they think. I think that because when I first started I started saying to myself don't write a list of things I did write what I did and why. A good blog post should also have good punctuation by putting full stops, commas and not over using explanation marks. I think that a good subject you should write about is subjects you liked and thought were interesting. You could also write about things you do outside of school and why you enjoy them. If it is your first time blogging you should visit some other more experienced writers and learn from their blogs. If you don't know any people's blogs you can read, read your teachers or someone that is famous maybe because some famous people have blogs.

I have been in a blogging competition and have been sick for a pretty long time I'm really disappointed because I was to sick to even write blog posts! I'm sorry I haven't been blogging for a while and I will try and get back into the habit of blogging regularly.
I have made a rubric with my group and we are going to score ourselves. We have chosen to mark ourselves looking at our working over this unit. This is another reflection for my exhibition (our current unit) and one of my most important reflections. For our rubric below we have consnidered the working of our cooperation, productivity, organisation, planning and communication.

I think I have not done so well in my unit by not doing that well towards my group and towards myself. I do not look at myself being very cooperative with my group by sometimes getting annoyed and arguing with them about the wrong things. I do not think I have been productive in the exhibition by sometimes finding work to do and having good ideas but getting distracted pretty easily. I think I could of made better choices of how to use my time and better choices of what work I could of done, by not doing something that is just wasting time. My organization has been much better than all the others because I think on the rubric I should be a two and a half because I bring my work and its in the right places but its not always done in a acceptable fashion. I think my planning has not been good by choosing for me having a one and a half on the  rubric I never know what to do without assistance from my group or a teacher. I think my communication has been pretty good with giving myself a two and a half I can communicate well with my group members but I think I don't communicate with the mentor enough. I think I could of done better in this unit and I want to improve from this.

Two boxes shaded means the mark is half way between both numbers.
As I have told you before our class is doing a exhibition about global issues. There are many different groups in our exhibition and my group is wastage of electricity. We have done and made a lot of ways for taking action with the people in my group. The people in my group are two people called Matthew and Thomas. I think my group is pretty well prepared for the exhibition, but we still have to do a couple of things like make our display and stuff like that. The best piece of work I think I did for the exhibition is my letter to the government. I have wrote a letter two them saying reasons for wastage of electricity and ways to save it. So I think we are going to do very well and I think we have done pretty well as a group.
Yesterday on Wednesday I had my parent teacher conferences. I think my conference with my parents and teachers went really well, showing them work I did in the year. I showed them work that I did well at and work that I learnt from. We talked about my goals that I made at the beginning of the school year and what goals I have changed. I was really pleased and I thought that I did really well explaining the reasons for changing my goals and why I chose those goals, like being more of a communicator than balanced. We also talked about UOI and my strengths weaknesses and subjects I did well on and subjects I learnt from. I think I did very well saying how I did in my timeline and them asking and answering questions about it. The rest of the conference went very well with me talking about what I have learnt and achieved in the year. I was happy with how much my parents thought I had improved and learnt. When we discussed my goals we talked about one of my goals that I still had to achieve which was handwriting. I have an idea for making my handwriting more neater by first trying to write all my blog posts by hand in cursive then copying them onto the computer.  I really enjoyed my conference and all the rest of them with them all going really well.
This is a blog post about what I'm going to tell you in my subjects. This year I think I have achieved many things. I want to achieve most of my goals and make new goals.
My goals
In January I made goals for the year. I think the goals I set myself were a good set of goals for me to achieve. I may not achieved one of them but I will try to. I will keep one of the goals like I will try to finish homework on my own. I think I have achieved my goal that if I get something wrong I will try again and again. My goal that I still really need to achieve is my handwriting and make it neater. The goal that is the most important to me is my handwriting goal.
This year we have done many units of inquiry. I think my best piece of work for unit is my timeline blog post on paper which I think I did very well in. I think I have achieved from my communities unit because I didn't do my best work in communities because I didn't really try and I have improved from that. My short term goal for UOI is to do more homework on my unit. My long term goal is to be more independent by deciding what I have to do on my own and trying to do it on my own before I ask for help.
A few weeks ago Andy asked us to look at our profiles that we said we do for the beginning of the year. We had to say what three main profiles we are from the IB learner profile and if we have changed. I think that one of the profiles I have wrote has changed for me and that I am now more of a communicator than balanced. I think that because I really like communicating with people and I do it a lot.  Here is the blog post I wrote about my profiles.
During this year I think I have improved on math in many ways. I Think the subject in math that I have improved the most in is my multiplication and secondly my long division. I have made progress on this because I now know much more tables from doing fiz buzz which is a game we play, and our speed tests we did in the beginning of the year. My long term goal for math is to learn even more of my times table up to ten or even twelve. For my short term goal I want to have a better attitude to math and not always be negative.

Over this year I have learnt very new and different things by different teachers and I hope to progress even more in the future. I look forward to other times when I get to learn something new. Thank you for reading my parent teacher conference blog post. I also wrote another blog post about my last Parent Teacher Conference which is also another example of what I used to write like see that in my Parent teacher conference writing blog post.
I think my writing has really improved from some of my first blog posts to my blog posts now. I have really focused on my writing from the beginning of the year to now. I think the piece of writing that really showed me as a writer in the beginning of the year is my Phuket four piece. Because it really shows what I used to be like as a writer and how much I have improved. One of the pieces that show me as a writer now is my Hong Kong Sevens piece. That piece has really showed what I have improved on since my Phuket four blog post. I also have a rubric that I have done to asses my Hong Kong sevens piece of writing. I hope my writing will improve even more from this.
Right now I am writing to you from Phuket, Thailand. I arrived just yesterday on a budget airline which came in at about twelve O'clock. For easter holiday we are staying in a hotel called the "Sheraton." We are not staying in our usual hotel the Laguna holiday club which are both in Laguna. Laguna is a lagoon on the coast of Phuket which has many hotels and villas for people to live in, it also has a wedding chapel and a shopping centre called "Canal Village." I also went to Laguna at Christmas so if you want to read that go to my Holiday blog.

I have just come back from a swim at the Laguna Holiday Club with some friends, Jack and Kara and going down the water slide a couple of times. It's been a bit different staying at the Sheraton but it is still really fun. After we got home from the holiday club me and my dad went to the entrance of the beach and played some table tennis and pool. I went straight from that to a fish therapy place where special type of fish eat of your'e dead skin on your feet and hands. My mum Scott, Angus, mum and dad all went over to a bar where all my friends from Hong Kong were. We went to an ice cream shop and after that we went to the lagoon and swam in it and brought canoes on the lagoon and had a lot of fun pushing each other off. We also went to the laguna beach swimming pool and went down the slide a couple of times and me Liam, Jack and Ryan (Liam's brother) kept landing on top of each other. It was so fun and it was hilarious we also played some water polo but never got around to it because the guards stopped us. The next post I make will be in my Holiday blog so if you want to read about it or some other places I've been to on holiday go to my Holiday blog.
