When the boat started sinking Thomas and Jhon Hanes both got life jackets, and made sure they had everything they needed if something happened. Then they jumped out of the boat. When John’s head popped out of the water he looked for Thomas, but he was nowhere to be seen. Then Dr. Hanes started swimming around to try and find Thomas.

“Thomas!” Jhon cried.

He didn’t give up looking for him. They had been not just best friends but went around the whole world together. They met on one of Jhon’s earliest travels in his late twenty’s. After Jhon thinking about his long relationship with Thomas it inspired him to look even harder. He finally found him on a plank of wood floating a couple meters in front of him. When he assured it was him he swam as fast as he could towards him and saw him lying on the plank wood eyes close. Jhon put his head against Thomas’s chest to see if he was breathing. Jhon found out he was and sighed in relief as he fell asleep on the wooden plank.
A couple weeks past on the boat and the two men were having a great time.

When they reached the coast of Cape Town almost everyone was hoping to see some whales. When mostly the whole ship was waiting to see some whales a tour guide stood up on one of the crates next to the edge of the ship. He started talking about what type of whales they might see. Just when the tour guide started to talk about the type of whales around this area. A huge lot of water came out of what looked like a big cylinder of water. At the same time a humongous whiny sound came from right under the flying water from above then another whiny sound then another everyone started getting scared because it sounded like they were all around us.

The tour guide immediately said “stay calm they’re just comm-”

The guide got cut of by the boat swaying very violently and the tour guide fell of the edge of the the ship screaming and shouting in terror. After the splash of him hitting the water Thomas said “Is it me or is the ship sinking!” Everyone started running around for life jackets and there was screaming and shouting. As everyone jumped into the water with life rafts and life jackets Dr.Hanes thought, there goes about two hundred people right to the bottom of the ocean.
Everyone was talking and shouting as they tried to get on the boat. Dr. John Hanes, an explorer who has been traveling around the world for several years with his partner Mr. Thomas Jones, arrived at the pier. When the two of them arrived they were looking around to try to get on the boat because it seemed that it was impossible to get on the boat because the entrances were being swarmed with people.  When they finally got on the boat they both went to their cabin and got themselves settled.  After they were unpacked,  they went up to the deck just as the Captain was announcing they would be leaving Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong.

Dr.Hanes and Thomas were at dinner discussing what they would do when they arrived at    Southampton, England. Then they talked about what they would do and see on the journey.

Dr. Hanes said “The Captain said that in about two weeks we might see some whales.”

Thomas replied “Yes, there are many famous sightings of whales off the coast of Capetown.” “I can’t wait I’ve never seen real live whales, but I’ve studied about them.” Said Dr.Hanes.
